Next OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T 5G: Sliding curved display, 5G connectivity, Snapdragon 855 and possible features The OnePlus 7 is one of the most hyped smartphones for 2019. With 5G and a sliding form factor, the next generation OnePlus 7 could revolutionise the premium smartphone segment in a major way.advertisement Amritanshu Mukherjee New DelhiJanuary 16, 2019UPDATED: January 16, 2019 12:00 IST (Concept: Ben Geskin)HIGHLIGHTSOnePlus 7 will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 chip and OnePlus’ custom 5G modem.OnePlus is getting rid of the notch with slider form factor.he OnePlus 7 could also make the switch to curved edge display.Oneplus has always been at forefront when it comes to generating hype for its products. We saw that with the OnePlus 6T, where the company was able to create mega hype in the market with the smartphone’s in-display fingerprint sensor. And later at the Qualcomm Summit in Hawaii last December, they proudly announced their association with Qualcomm to bring one of the first few smartphones with 5G capability. And now, the leaks for the next generation OnePlus device are already out.Last weekend, the Internet was awash with a photo of two devices from OnePlus’ stables. The two smartphones, presumed to be the next generation OnePlus devices, have given us a preview of what to expect from the company. The biggest change that fans are anticipating is the removal of the notch and adopting the tried-and-tested slider form factor. The device will also feature curved edge displays, which are now widely adopted by manufacturers to increase the screen-to-body ratio. The other mysterious device with the waterdrop notch does bring a lot of questions. Therefore, if you are eagerly waiting for the next generation OnePlus devices, here’s what has happened so far in this regard.OnePlus 7 expected features–The OnePlus 7 will be launched sometime in 2019. This means that the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip. For now, it’s not known whether the device will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 modem or use a custom 5G modem. OnePlus did mention earlier that the 5G device won’t be supporting promised gigabit-class speeds due to technology constraints.advertisement (Photo: Slashleaks)–Since the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus’ devices have been losing bezels at a rate faster than any other smartphone. The OnePlus 6T brought it down to a waterdrop notch and with the OnePlus 7, the company is getting rid of it by adopting a sliding form factor. Many other smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and Honor Magic 2 have been using the sliding form factor for achieving a fullscreen display. OnePlus’ system firm Oppo even went for a motorised slider in the Find X flagship. It will be interesting to see whether OnePlus goes for the motorised slider or a manual one. Our bet is on the manual system.–Looking at the leaked photos, it seems that OnePlus isn’t going ahead with a 3D Infrared facial recognition system unlike some of its rivals. The OnePlus 7 could end up sporting a single front rear camera and the usual array of proximity as well as auto brightness sensors. OnePlus’ front camera-based facial verification system could make it to the new model, which translates into a major cost-saving measure for the company. We expect the in-screen fingerprint sensor to make a comeback on this one as well.–The OnePlus 7 could also make the switch to curved edge display similar to Samsung’s flagship S and Note series devices. The curved edge display is a controversial feature that has created a 50-50 opinion amongst consumers. The benefit that comes with the curved edge display for OnePlus is that they will be able to reduce the screen-to-body ratio and make the device easier to use at the same time.–As with previous OnePlus devices, the OnePlus 7 will run on Oxygen OS based on Android 9 Pie. While it appears no different than the one we are used to in the present models, we expect that OnePlus will be bringing certain new navigation gestures to justify the new all-screen display.–The Alert Slider will also be repositioned and could sit just above the power/lock button. This could make it easier to reach for those with smaller hands. The Alert Slider will is one of the most useful distinctive features on a OnePlus device.OnePlus 7 Lite/ OnePlus 6T 5G–The mysterious secondary device is expected to be called either the OnePlus 6T 5G variant or the OnePlus 7 Lite, considering it’s under testing as evident from the photos. Concept: Ben Geskin)–OnePlus did say that there will be a 5G device before the OnePlus 7 launches. We expect that OnePlus could be unveiling a 5G variant of the OnePlus 6T. It could feature the more powerful Snapdragon 855 chip and feature OnePlus’ custom 5G modem.–The leak shows that this device will feature the waterdrop notch similar to the OnePlus 6T. However, the device could also feature curved edges.–OnePlus also mentioned that their first 5G device smartphone will be more expensive than the most expensive variant of the OnePlus 6T. Therefore, to justify the additional price, we could expect to see OnePlus offering the 30W Warp Charge and 10GB RAM from the McLaren Edition.advertisement–In case this mysterious device ends up launching alongside the OnePlus 7 later in the year, it could be caked the OnePlus 7 Lite.–The OnePlus 7 Lite could offer a more affordable variant of the more expensive OnePlus 7 slider model. In this way, OnePlus could follow Apple and Samsung’s model of creating multiple variants of its flagship model to enhance accessibility.ALSO READ | OnePlus 7 will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, will support 5G in EuropeALSO READ | OnePlus 5G phone could be priced around Rs 45,999, launch expected early next yearALSO READ | OnePlus 5G smartphone will be expensive, won’t offer ultimate 5G speedsGet real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? Sleep With the Wolves in Canada’s Parc Omega Soho aside, London’s East end holds the reputation as the fastest changing area of the city. A constant flux of new restaurants, bars and concept stores keep the hip crowds coming and the rental prices sky-high. But you already knew that right? Well then read on for the new openings that you couldn’t possibly have kept tabs on…First you’ll need a suitably stylish place to rest your head. Speaking at the launch of a book on Vice President M Venkiah Naidu here, Shah said he firmly believed that Art 370 that gave the special status to Jammu and Kashmir should be removed as it was not beneficial to the country. “I was firm that Article 370 should be removed…. after (scrapping) Article 370, terrorism in Kashmir will end and it will progress on the path of development,” he said.
Anaheim: JJ Abrams says it would be impossible to imagine the end of Star Wars saga after almost 40 years without the story’s heart, Princess Leia, played by the late Carrie Fisher, who had sort of predicted that he was not yet done with the galaxy far, far away. Abrams, who successfully launched the franchise’s sequel trilogy with 2015’s The Force Awakens, had not signed on for the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker but he stepped in after Colin Trevorrow left the project over creative differences with Lucasfilm. Also Read – I have personal ambitions now: PriyankaSpeaking at the D23 Expo where an exclusive trailer and poster from the much-awaited film was shown to the audience, Abrams opened up about working with Fisher, who died of a cardiac arrest on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60. “The character of Leia is, in a way, the heart of this story. We couldn’t possibly talk about the end of these nine films without Leia and we realised that we had footage from ‘Episode 7’ and we didn’t even know that we could use it in a new way. So Carrie as Leia gets to be in the film,” Abrams told fans here. “People have asked me for many years now like ‘what is she like’, ‘what’s Carrie like’. It was always very hard to describe this. She was sort of supernaturally witty and magical in a way,” he added. Fisher will appear as Princess Leia in The Rise of Skywalker after Abrams decided to incorporate the actor’s unused footage from The Force Awakens in the film.
OTTAWA — The Globe and Mail says former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould disappointed the Prime Minister’s Office by refusing to help SNC-Lavalin avoid a criminal prosecution. The Quebec engineering and construction giant has been facing legal trouble over allegations it paid millions of dollars in bribes to get government business in Libya, which would be a crime under Canadian law.As justice minister, Wilson-Raybould could have gotten involved in the case against the company by directing federal prosecutors to negotiate a “remediation agreement,” a way of undoing damage without admitting the company itself was at fault for things particular employees did.The Globe reports that SNC-Lavalin repeatedly lobbied Justin Trudeau’s aides for a deal and Trudeau’s office leaned on Wilson-Raybould to make it happen. No such agreement was ever reached and Wilson-Raybould was moved to be minister of veterans affairs in a January cabinet shuffle.Neither Trudeau nor Wilson-Raybould nor SNC-Lavalin has immediately responded to questions from The Canadian Press about the story. The Canadian Press

3 July 2009The United Nations is assisting families displaced by violence which shook Timor-Leste in 2006 return to their homes and preventing potential conflicts in their communities. In late April 2006, fighting – attributed to differences between eastern and western regions – erupted when 600 striking soldiers, or one-third of the armed forces, were fired. Ensuing violence claimed dozens of lives and drove 155,000 people, 15 per cent of the total population, from their homes. The Metinaro camp, one of the largest sites housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) uprooted during that crisis, began closing last month, with 700 families returning home after accepting a Government recovery package. To prepare for the moves, the Government and its partners have been holding dialogues and mediations with the receiving communities to pave the way for the return of displaced families. In his most recent report on Timor-Leste, which the UN shepherded to independence in 2002, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said warned that the root causes of the 20-6 crisis, including poverty and unemployment, still linger. Monitors with the UN peacekeeping mission in the country, known as UNMIT, along with non-governmental organizations, have each been assigned a family to accompany home. “Continued monitoring of the returned families will be critical in identifying and mitigating potential conflict in their communities,” said Louis Gentile, Timor-Leste Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. Nearly 14,000 displaced families have accepted Government recovery packages, and despite the closure of camps, almost 2,500 people are still seeking refuge in shelters. “We must consider the long-term impact that the displacement has had,” Mr. Gentile said. According to UNMIT, short-term challenges for returning IDPs include protection, while longer-term obstacles will require the adoption of national land laws and efficient mechaniss to regulate land and property disputes sufficient investment in infrastructure to allow all people to access basic services and ensuring justice and accountability for the crimes that led to the original displacement.

Gaye’s children are suing Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and the rapper T.I., alleging their song copies Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give It Up.”Jurors heard from Thicke and Pharrell, who denied they copied Gaye’s song. Much of the trial focused on detailed comparisons of the two songs. An attorney for the Gaye family told jurors they could award millions of dollars in damages if they determine “Blurred Lines” copied the earlier hit.“Blurred Lines” was 2013’s biggest hit and earned Williams and Thicke more than $5 million apiece. Deliberations resume in lawsuit alleging hit song ‘Blurred Lines’ copied Marvin Gaye music Robin Thicke leaves Los Angeles Federal Court in Los Angeles, Wednesday, March 4, 2015. The Grammy-winning singer Pharrell Williams says he wasn’t trying to copy the late Marvin Gaye’s music for the hit song “Blurred Lines,” but he was trying to evoke the feeling of late 1970s tunes. Williams is being sued by Gaye’s children, who claim “Blurred Lines” improperly copies their father’s hit “Got to Give it Up.” The singer Thicke and rapper T.I. are also defendants in the case. Kylian Mbappe revealed that he’s keeping a keen eye on Unai Emery’s progress at Arsenal this seasonThe teenage superstar spent his first season at Paris Saint-Germain playing under Emery, where they won a domestic treble. However, PSG’s last-16 exit in the Champions League to Real Madrid proved to be the final straw for chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi – who decided to bring in Thomas Tuchel as the club’s new coach in the summer.Emery shortly afterwards was announced as Arsene Wenger’s successor at Arsenal.Although Mbappe, who at one point was closely linked with a move to the Gunners himself, has nothing but respect and gratitude towards Emery.Neymar responds to PSG criticism with a stunning winner Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 14, 2019 Despite all the backlash he got today at Parc des Princes, Neymar responded by scoring a stunning winner vs Strasbourg. We all knew that Neymar’s…“I have a lot of respect for this man even if he did not succeed in Paris,” Mbappe told France Football.“He won titles before and I hope he wins them again after. UK banks have been pretty bad boys, all in all. They have been caught out for a succession of mis-selling scandals, including PPI (Payment Protection Insurance). They have so far paid out £26bn (€35bn, $39.5bn) in compensation and fines for PPI. Including other mis-selling scandals, the total cost of compensation and fines now runs to a cool £42bn (Figure 1).So, have we seen the end of these scandals? Not yet…The UKs high street banks, including Barclays (code: BARC), Lloyds (code: LLOY), HSBC (code: HSBA) and RBS (code: RBS) face a further estimated £10-15bn in claims for PPI, according to Nick Baxter of the Professional Financial Claims Association.City watchdog the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has just set a 2018 deadline for consumers to make further PPI claims. The claims industry thinks this will result in a further flood of claims against these banks as a result.Standard and Poors reckons the big four UK banks face a further £19bn in compensation costs and fines over the next two years. This is a massive amount, but amazingly enough it is actually less than the £22bn that these banks have paid over the past two years.Bad news for the banks? Actually, more like good newsFor investors in these banks, is this announcement by the FCA bad news? Probably not, if truth be told. In fact, you can even argue that the 2018 limit for PPI claims is good news, as it provides certainty over the end of this sorry affair. After 2018, PPI-related costs will no longer drag on banks earnings, allowing earnings growth to accelerate. And now looks like a decent time to buy some bank exposure, as the UK banks sector has seen share prices drop by an average of 17% since June of this year, with most of the damage being done over August (Figure 2).Amazing income payers to pick upSo long as the banks continue to pay dividends out at the current rate (or better), bank shareholders can expect to receive a bumper crop of dividends in the years to come. Out of the biggest five UK listed banks, HSBC comes out top in terms of its dividend yield, ie the income you can expect to receive every year (Figure 3). HSBC offers a hefty 6.6% annual income on shares bought today at 508p.Note also that each of the banks are considerably cheaper than the overall FTSE 100 index, when judged by price/earnings ratio (P/E; the lower this ratio is, the cheaper the share). The five banks are valued at P/E ratios ranging from 9 to 12.4 times earnings, way lower than the 15.2 times that the FTSE 100 is valued at.Focus on HSBCHSBC is a truly global bank, with big operations in the UK (the old Midland Bank), the US, and of course Asia (in China and of course Hong Kong). Overall, the bank earns nearly 40% of its revenue in Asia, and it has made this region the target of its new strategic focus. This should result in faster profit growth going forwards, given the faster economic growth in the region compared to Europe or the US.The costs from misconduct like PPI looks to have peaked (after paying $11.2bn over 2011 to 2014), and cost cutting should now allow HSBC to raise its profitability level substantially over the next few years. With the share price over 20% lower today than in May of this year, and a very attractive income yield of way over 6% on offer, this could be an appealing prospect for those investors who like a bit of value.Edmund Shing is Global Head of Equity Derivative Strategy at BNP Paribas in London.
