Rushville Invitational

first_imgThis coming Saturday will be the Rushville Cross Country Invitational.  Rushville started this event almost 40 years ago.  At that time cross country was just becoming popular in southeast Indiana.  In the early days more than 40 teams participated in this event, and it was a boys only meet run in classes based on enrollment.Batesville was very fortunate because they won this event early and often.  Many of the large Indianapolis schools ran in this event.  It was a preview of the state meet.  In fact, there were more teams participating in this meet than ran in the state meet.  When Batesville runs in this event this Saturday, the number of teams will not be as many as there were in the old days, but it will be a boys and girls invitational.  Good luck to all the teams from the area who will be running in this event.last_img read more
