Tweet Share 9 Views   no discussions Sharecenter_img LocalNews Senior met officer urges public to support national cleanup weekend by: – June 17, 2011 Share Senior Met Officer and Chairperson of the National Disaster Public Awareness Committee Cheryl Ettienne-Leblanc is calling on the general public to come out in full support of a cleanup campaign announced by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit next week.The National cleanup weekend is expected to better prepare Dominica to withstand the damages caused by a hurricane.Government has identified resources at the disposal of councils and other agencies to deal with natural disasters on the island.Mrs. Leblanc says a series of educational programs have been planned ahead of June 24th to 27th.Leblanc is also calling on media houses and other stakeholders to play their part in helping to promote the activities.It is predicted that there will be an above average hurricane season with 12-18 named storms.The long range prediction is that there could be as many as ten major hurricanes.Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has declared the weekend of June 24th to 27th to deal with natural disasters.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img read more
