Country brings in offshoring business

It was honoured along with MEDZ Sourcing, which manages business parks in Morocco that are dedicated to offshoring. The EOA is viewed as Europe’s most important association of professionals and experts in the outsourcing industry, according to Abderrafie Hanouf of MEDZ Sourcing. It has over a thousand corporate members representing national trade associations from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom.South Africa was a finalist last year, and this year saw off competition from Russia and Serbia to clinch the top spot. The ceremony took place on 25 April in Amsterdam. South Africa was entered by the national association, Business Processing enabling South Africa (BPeSA), and the award comes hot on the heels of its October 2012 triumph at the London-based National Outsourcing Association’s annual ceremony, where it was voted the UK offshoring destination of the year.BPeSA Western Cape chief executive Gareth Pritchard was delighted with the honour, saying it confirmed the quality of service that South Africa offered to its European clients. “Services in other languages, combined with a growing base of high-end skills in financial and legal services, have highlighted the country’s status as a world-class offshoring location,” he said.Offshoring contributes an estimated R8-billion (US$895-million) to the province’s economy and employs thousands of people, according to the Western Cape’s minister of finance, economic development and tourism, Alan Winde.Statistics from the City of Cape Town reveal that the city’s outsourcing industry grew from 20 428 agents in 2007/8, to 27 552 in 2011/12 – a year on year increase of 10.5%During the same period the offshoring sector increased from 2 963 to 4 727 agents. This represents a remarkable year on year growth of 16.9%. During 2012 the industry attracted investment of R510-million ($57-million).Fast-growing sectorA 2011 survey (PDF, 105KB) by international research group Everest Consultancy named South Africa as one of the top three emerging offshore business process outsourcing (BPO) destinations in the world.Offshoring goes one step further than BPO, which is the practice of relocating business processes that a company usually performs in-house, such as accounting or customer call centres, to a third-party service provider, to carry out on behalf of the company.Outsourcing becomes offshoring when the third-party service provider is located in another country.South Africa was expected to make steady progress in the offshoring sector in years to come, said senior analyst Partha Iyengar of technology research firm Gartner. He was speaking at a symposium hosted in Cape Town by the company in August 2012. Iyengar predicted the creation of 40 000 new jobs through offshoring by 2014, while the local insourced sector would provide jobs for 120 000 people.Iyengar stated that by 2015, he expected offshore contact centre jobs in South Africa to grow to more than three times the number in 2010.Attractions and incentivesMuch of the outsourcing industry is based in the Western Cape. Here companies can take advantage of attractions such as a multi-lingual workforce that doesn’t have a strong accent and that speaks English, German, Dutch, Italian and French; costs of between 50% and 60% lower than source countries; top-class infrastructure; enhanced quality of life for expats; time zone compatibility with the UK and Europe; government support in the form of tax and bonus incentives and training programmes via the Department of Trade and Industry; and more.At the end of April 2013, Winde announced further government support for the sector of R300-million ($33.6-million) for the current financial year, which would result in the creation of 2 500 jobs.“We are focusing on this sector, which has an average entry level salary of R6 500 ($727), because it is labour intensive and has a relatively low barrier to entry. Indeed, 70% of all employees are between the ages of 18 and 35 and carry only a matric. Creating opportunities for our youth to become employed is my top priority,” said Winde.BPeSA’s Pritchard said at the same event that in 2012, more than 4 500 jobs had been created in the BPO and contact centre industry.Companies making use of South African facilities include, among others, British Gas; Amazon; Switzerland’s Edelweiss Air; global outsourcing leader WNS; Bloomberg; Virgin Mobile; Everything Everywhere, which handles communications for the Orange and T-Mobile brands; and British retailer Asda, which has been running its contact centre from Cape Town since 2005.last_img read more

Without having doubt you get specifically what you pay out for, shell out a little bit added for a much better quality, are not able to complain at the price and support.Of course its low-priced, so you shell out for affordable. Even so expressing that i assumed it was in fact really very good quality for its price tag, not incredible but good. I purchased a hair net to go with it which i think produced this merchandise a good deal simpler to use. The only criticism i have is that for some rationale some of the hair flicked the other way, pointing out somewhat than in, failed to trouble me while. Worn it the moment on a evening out as velma (scooby doo) and folks mentioned i appeared great, can not be terrible.Wig looked fab with my nineteen twenties extravagant gown outfit. Had a few issues with supply even though – they would not produce devoid of a signature which i nevertheless was preposterous looking at it was such a small-price tag item and simply in shape in the write-up box. Approximately didn’t get it is time as they took it away two times even however i stipulated that they must go away it in the put up box.Good get for this trendy small wig terrific seem for a extravagant costume nite @ £3.The product was as anticipated from the photos and description and not undesirable at all for the cost. Bought as fancy costume for a stag party (do not inquire) fair dimension and match and the color was proper (a redhead was the need). Was impressed by the client support as i originally requested the wrong color and had to return it and talk to for yet another to be despatched. This was completed quickly and competently.A little bit on the compact dimensions but customer providers great. Not as anticipated but okay for what i paid.Fantastic glimpse and uncomplicated in shape and style.Ordered for extravagant costume hen doo. The quality is fantastic thinking of the selling price. It can be a bit far more coral coloured than crimson, and strands fell out during the working day. Not likely to very last permanently but fantastic for value.Acquired for a st patrick’s party. Experienced a large amount of feedback about it – all good. Really quick & at ease to put on. Terrible loss leads to celebration of a legacy in Athens County

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest What started as a heartbreaking story of loss and devastation in a small farm community was transformed into lasting legacy honoring the memory of a promising young man. With a bright future ahead, 18-year-old Noah Cox was tragically killed in late May in a tractor rollover accident while baling hay. Cox was a noted cattle showman who had multiple grand champion steer banners from the Athens County Fair. This was his last year of junior show eligibility. After the terrible loss of Cox this spring, his good friend Austin Pullins (also an accomplished steer showman) decided to finish out his market beef projects at the Ohio State Fair and the Athens County Fair. This set the stage for the early-August Athens County Junior Market Beef Show and the incredible livestock sale that followed.“When I walked into the fairgrounds I could feel it,” said Jason Langley, the Washington CH-based auctioneer from the Athens County Junior Fair Livestock Sale. “I’ve been selling down there for a number of years and there was just this quiet over the crowd. When you go to a fair sale there is usually a lot of energy and a lot of activity. When I walked in there I could feel it in the air and [Noah] not being there was a huge impact at the Athens County Fair.”The Athens County Fair Junior Market Beef Show was still fresh in everyone’s mind at the sale.“When Noah passed away his good friend Austin stepped in there to help get the steers ready and he won that show with Noah’s steer. It was the best steer in the barn. It wasn’t a feel-good situation for the judge. It was the best steer. I don’t even know if the judge knew the situation,” Langley said. “After they did that, Austin came in with his steer and got reserve champion. When the champion drive was on, Austin was in there showing Noah’s steer instead of his own. It was awesome for him to get that for Noah.”The sale then got off to its somber start.“They told me what happened and I knew it was going to be huge, even if he had placed last in the show. But how do you do this without taking away from the other kids? A group of business people from the area got together and put in money and called me with that amount of money. We sold the steer and there were eight or 10 buyers involved and that was $26,000, which is what the steer sold for in the ring. Then I gave the opportunity to the people in the crowd to donate to this. After it was all said and done, I collected an additional $37,050,” Langley said. “You talk about tears, goose bumps, hugs, cheers. It was unbelievable. It was what 4-H is all about and what agriculture is about — coming together as a community to support a young man and his family. It was a touching moment. If you can’t get excited about a story like this, I don’t know what you need. There was something like 40,000 views of the video from the auction.”In addition to the livestock sale proceeds, commemorative t-shirts were sold in memory of Noah Cox.“They started making a few and pretty soon they were making hundreds of these purple shirts and selling them and the proceeds go to a new barn they are putting up at the fairgrounds — a grooming barn at the end of the steer barn,” Langley said. “They have a tent there now but they are building this barn in his memory.”The purple shirts feature the phrase “Succeeding in the show ring of life” and more than 800 have been sold, with proceeds benefitting the Noah Cox Memorial Fund and Athens County 4-H and FFA members.Donations continued after the sale and by the next morning, the total contributions toward the sale and the Noah Cox Memorial Fund were over $70,000. The new building honoring Cox will be constructed before the 2018 Athens County Fair. The selection of the grand champion steer was a very emotional moment at the Athens County Fair. 2011 Predictions: Richard MacManus

first_imgA Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… 2: eBooks will hit 20% market penetration by the end of 2011. In 2010, the Association of American Publishers reported that eBooks made up 9.03% of total consumer book sales – compared to 3.31% at the close of 2009. I’m predicting this growth to rocket in 2011, thanks to a plentiful supply of cheap eReaders and a long overdue price war on eBooks between Amazon, Barnes&Noble and others. I predict it will reach 20%, in other words one in five books in 2011 will be sold as an eBook. If that bold prediction comes true, it will be great news for book consumers and will silence eBook skeptics about the future of eBooks. Disclaimer: I’m not suggesting paper books will go away, just that eBooks become much more popular and utilized.3: Internet of Cars will be the surprise hit of the year. This year we saw further commercialization of services that connect everyday objects to the Internet. In 2011, I predict that cars (not smart homes, smart grids, etc.) will be where the most innovation and mainstream attention happens for Internet of Things technologies. Apps like AutoBot will gain traction over 2011.4: Internet TV tips and gets huge consumer uptake. In 2010 there was a lot of progress in this sector: Apple TV re-design, Google TV, Boxee, Roku, Clicker and other developments. Most of this activity was largely experimental though, in that no one vendor got the formula quite right. For example, the launch problems of Google TV at the end of this year. However in 2011, consumers will flock to these products as they mature and more Internet TV content is made available – particularly in the U.S. market, but hopefully to international markets too. Picking a breakout product is difficult, as each of the main players offers something different. I don’t think there will be a breakout product, although Google has the broadest capabilities and so it has the potential to become one if it gets the product right. I predict that Google won’t dominate this market though; and neither will Apple.5: A major pop music star will do something amazing with web technologies, that blows open the online music scene. Arcade Fire set the scene in 2010, with their experimental collaboration with Google on an HTML5-fueled interactive video. In 2011, I expect an even bigger star – someone innovative like Kanye West or Lady Gaga, or a totally new star – to do something that re-defines what music means online. That could be something new in a live show, a music video, or something completely unexpected. To get more specific, I’ll bet on something that blends a live album with internet technologies – which sells unexpectedly well and thus sets a trend in the music industry.6: Bonus prediction: by the end of 2011, the most viewed YouTube video of all time will no longer be Justin Bieber. Instead it will be a collaboration between an unknown comedian and a breakout new baby. I’m envisaging a combination of comedy tap dancing and baby giggling (perhaps recorded using an auto-tune device). Yes, 2011 will mark the return of viral comedy and laughing babies to the top of the YouTube charts – this time as a duet! Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… richard macmanus Over December we’ve reviewed the top Web products and developments of 2010. Now it’s time to look ahead to 2011. The ReadWriteWeb team is always thinking about what’s next, so in our final series of 2010 we attempt to predict the big stories of 2011. Predictions are of course a tricky business. The braver the predictions, the more risk of them not coming true! Without further ado, here are my predictions for 2011 – 5 serious and 1 not so serious.1: Flipboard becomes the breakout news reading app of 2011. With its latest round of updates in December, Flipboard introduced Google Reader and made some significant changes to sharing and navigation. I expect Flipboard to introduce more such upgrades in 2011 and begin to expand to other devices than the iPad. These moves will push Flipboard into becoming a very popular app to browse, curate and share news each day. It won’t usurp Google Reader for curating and sharing activities, simply because Google Reader can be used on the PC. However for mobile surfing, which will be an increasingly important way to browse news in 2011, Flipboard will rule in curating and sharing of media.ReadWriteWeb’s 2011 Predictions:2011 Staff Predictions2011 Predictions: Klint Finley2011 Predictions: Curt Hopkins2011 Predictions: Sarah Perez2011 Predictions: Mike Melanson Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Related Posts Tags:#predictions#web last_img read more

She knows what’s going on,” said Winn. “She’s been involved in a very crucial time in the last eight years and she’s got a good legacy to keep on going.”San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones applauded the city for some great accomplishments, like a bustling manufacturing industry, more local businesses, and a drop in crime by 19%.“We have a local economy that’s thriving,” said Jones. “We have our schools. We’re the educational hub of North County and it’s just honestly a fabulous time in San Marcos to see all the growth.”She agreed there’s always room to grow.Jones said the first big challenge she’s aiming to tackle is traffic because San Marcos is a city people cut through.“Obviously we want to work with SANDAG to get the 78 improvements going, but it really is the technology that’s going to help San Marcos move forward with the traffic and move people around,” said Jones. Her goal is to take San Marcos from a “drive-through” community to a “drive-to” destination.“We want to keep them here too, so really bringing the right businesses to the city so people understand that, ‘Hey, spending my tax dollars in San Marcos is a great idea,’ and there’s all these opportunities to make it happen,” said Jones. There are some other big goals for 2019. She said the city is planning to break ground on the Creek Infrastructure Improvement Project, which was envisioned in 2007. It will transform the Creek District into a new downtown area. She will also work on the launch of a mobile reporting app for the community.
