CONVOY TO GET UPGRADE IN WATER SUPPLY

first_imgIrish Water has confirmed that a programme of works is being developed to improve water quality around the Convoy area. The project, which is expected will proceed to construction phase early next year, has been progressed in an effort to combat discoloration and contamination of the area’s water supply.Welcoming the news, Cllr Liam Doherty said “In recent weeks I have been working closely with local residents around Convoy, particularly in a number of estates such as Beechwood Grove and Beechwood Park in the town regarding the poor quality of the main’s water supply. “Local people have been raising concerns over water discoloration and the presence of contaminants in the water being carried into their homes through their taps, and many were understandably very angry at being billed for water which was undrinkable.“Naturally, Irish Water as the competent utility has a duty to ensure that the water we drink is clean and is not harmful, so I immediately contacted the company and expressed the concerns of residents and sought clarity from the company as to how it planned to address these issues.”The Sinn Fein county councillor said he has now received an update from Irish Water and the company has confirmed that a works programme is being developed for this project in Convoy and that construction will start in early 2017 and will be completed within 6 months.“It’s expected that this work will resolve this matter and will result in an improvement to the drinking water being supplied to homes in the area. “Of course I very much welcome this announcement and I am happy that the development will provide residents with water which is clear and drinkable.“Accordingly, I intend to continue to work with residents and keep them updated on this work which will hopefully address their concerns going forward,” he added.CONVOY TO GET UPGRADE IN WATER SUPPLY was last modified: March 6th, 2016 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Cllr Liam Dohertyconvoywaterlast_img read more
